There is soccer fever in Ghana.
The nation is currently participating in the WC in Qatar – and then the country’s population shows that it can offer entertainment.
Not least the parliamentarian Isaac Adongo who used the English centre-back Harry Maguire as an argument in a debate.

Ghana is making its fourth World Cup during the World Cup in Qatar – and we all probably remember how it looked in 2010 when they went out in a brutal way in the quarter-finals. In 2022, you will be there again, and you have left an impression, to say the least. Not just on the field.

Beautiful Ghana

When Ghana faced South Korea in the second group stage match in Group H, one of the country’s leaders caught the eye. The Africans won the match 3–2 and shortly after the final whistle South Korea’s big star was seen Heung Min Son in tears. Mode to comfort the Korean perhaps? Not then. Instead, the Ghanaian leader stepped forward and took a selfie with the crying world star.

But it doesn’t stop there. Because on Thursday, people from the Ghanaian side ended up in the center again – but this time for a slightly different reason. It is about the parliamentarian Isaac Adongowho in a debate about the country’s budget chose to highlight the English centre-back Harry Maguire in one of his arguments.

“The Maguire of Economics”

Adongo calls his opponent, the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumiafor “Economy’s Maguire”.
– I was happy when Ghana won their match, but there is a player in England called Harry Maguire. He is a defender. He was considered one of the best defenders in the world and Manchester United were at the bottom. He later became the biggest threat in his own penalty area, tackling teammates and assisting opponents. Mr Speaker, when you see the opposition going towards goal, Maguire will score the goal for them. And we have a “Maguire of the economy”, he says.

The pictures also show how Adongo’s statement contributes to many laughs in the room, and you can’t help but laugh at his nice grip.

During the match against South Korea, a clip of Ghana’s medical team has also gone viral where they can both be seen running onto the pitch in sync style to say the least.
