Facts: The fighters
Sixteen characters have so far been revealed as playable characters, and more will be released as the title becomes successful.
“Multiversus” is Player First Games’ first game. The fact that the debut manages to secure a number of famous people from Warner Bros.’s different universes can be seen as quite impressive.
– There were clearly challenges with some brands, some more than others, says Artak Avakyan, animation manager at the American studio.

Because it is precisely the selection of playable characters that is “Multiversus”‘s main bait. A host of superheroes and villains from DC Comics, Batman and Harley Quinn can be found here, along with cartoon characters such as Tom and Jerry, Taz and the Iron Giant. Arya Stark from “Game of thrones” is also included. Actress Maisie Williams, who played the witty assassin in the TV series, has lent her voice to the game.
– Everyone’s fighting style is very different, says Avakyan about the list.
If the full lineup is what should attract, then it is the depth of the matches themselves that will make the players stay. It’s about knocking the opponent out of the picture, a lot is about jumping and mastering your fighter in the air. The fact that “Multiversus” is free guarantees that many may give it a chance.
– There are no “pay to win” scenarios, we have wanted to ensure that the integrity of the competition part is kept intact.

Getting the balance right, with characters fighting very differently, and also with a collaborative aspect, has been difficult. Lots of game tests have been conducted.
– It was several times when we were surprised, that they succeed with some “combo” and we just “wow, how do you succeed with that?”. Some are fantastic and exciting, while sometimes we have to go back and make sure it feels balanced and not broken, says Artak Avakyan.
“Multiversus” will hit Playstation, Xbox and PC later this year.
