The staff was supposed to visit her three times – didn’t make it • “Very serious”

The woman at the nursing home in Oxelösund called for help twice during the night – but the alarm was turned off.
In the morning, the staff found her dead in the bathroom.

During the night at the nursing home, the woman raised the alarm for help twice, but both alarms were turned off P4 Sörmland was the first to report on.

At half past eight in the morning, the woman was found dead, lying in the bathroom with the alarm next to her.

None of the staff reacted

Katarina Haddon is head of the health and care administration in Oxelösund. They have made a Lex Sarah report about the incident to the Inspectorate for Care and Care, IVO.

– I look at it very seriously. We have investigated it according to Lex Sarah. We have arrived at what shortcomings we see, she says.

In the Lex Sara report, it appears that the neighboring department at the nursing home, which was responsible for receiving forwarded alarms, also did not react when the woman signaled that she needed help.

Was going to visit the woman three times – didn’t get off

During the night, the staff would also make three planned supervision visits to the woman between ten in the evening and seven in the morning. But none of these visits materialized.

– Now we are working on measures to ensure that these deficiencies do not occur in the future, says Katarina Haddon.

The HR department is also investigating whether any labor law measures need to be taken against the affected personnel.

– We are looking at whether we need to take any labor law measures and I don’t know that today, says Haddon.
