A woman at a short-term accommodation in Växjö died shortly after undergoing hip surgery. The municipality has reported the incident to the Health and Care Inspectorate according to lex Sarah, Smålandsposten writes.

The incident occurred in December. When the newly operated woman had to be moved on one occasion, the hip was affected and an X-ray showed that a screw had been dislodged. A few days later, the woman suffered convulsions and died.

It has not been established whether there is a connection between the woman’s death and the wrongful transfer. But the municipality has issued a warning for “lack of compliance with routines” and the accommodation must review routines and values.

– It is important to follow the existing guidelines. It’s part of being professional. We think there were shortcomings there, says the head of the care administration Ewa Ekman to Smålandsposten.
