A woman in her 60s was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital after a heavy house fire in Vänersborg early Sunday morning.
The alarm came in at 03:14 and when the emergency services arrived at the scene, the villa was already engulfed in flames.
– The woman had managed to get out of the house, but she is badly burned and was taken to hospital by ambulance, says Andreas Odén, officer on duty at police region West to TT.
Residents in adjacent properties have been evacuated and the strong flow has created a large shower of sparks.
– The villa will burn to the ground and there is a great risk of spreading, so both we and the rescue service will remain for several hours, says Andreas Odén.
