Just before 4pm on Tuesday, a neighbor who saw the fire alerted the emergency services.
– The neighbor sees that there is a fire against the facade of a residential building and runs there and puts it out. It was a deliberate intervention, says Magnus Eklund, on-call preliminary investigation leader at the police.
Rigged fire outside the house
The emergency services and the police who came to the scene were able to quickly establish that someone had set a fire outside the house and that the fire had time to reach the wooden facade of the house.
– There is no doubt that the fire was started, says Magnus Eklund.
A few hours later, a woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson. Prosecutors later decided to lift the arrest, but the suspicions remain.
The crime scene must be investigated
The crime scene is still cordoned off and will be examined on Wednesday by police technicians and possibly a specially trained dog. No one was injured in the fire.
