In the spring of 2023, 12-year-old Murhaf Hamid from Glimåkra became nationally famous when he sold may flowers for record sums.
One of the many who reacted to Murhaf’s sales success was a woman from Lund who wrote derogatory and racist words about Murhaf on the platform X.
After being reported to the police, the woman was charged with incitement against a group of people and gross defamation. When the post was posted, she was a member of the Sweden Democrats, but she was later expelled.
Sentenced to probation
During the trial, the woman denied having written the post herself and said that she had been hijacked. Something the district court states in its judgment that there is no evidence for.
Prosecutor Mathias Larsson believes that the crime is at the prison level, but due to circumstances surrounding the woman’s private life, he considered that probation was the right punishment.
There he now gets the support of Lund’s district court, which sentences the woman to probation for both gross slander and incitement against a group of people. The woman must also pay damages of SEK 30,000 with interest.
