When a woman in Borås reported sick, Försäkringskassan made a serious mistake.
The woman who was home from work for eleven days was paid a generous sum of SEK 234,000 by the authority, something that P4 Sjuhärad was the first to report on.

Woman received SEK 234,000 – by mistake
Fredrik Falkbusiness area manager at Försäkringskassan, regrets the mistake.
– Last summer we identified a deficiency in the control regarding payments. There were several cases where the wrong amount had been registered. Fortunately, most could be stopped because the payouts hadn’t gone through yet, but in this case the money had already been paid out,” he told News24and continues:
– The legislation is clear. The woman will be liable for repayment.

Fredrik Falk cannot comment on individual cases, but according to P4 Sjuhärad, the woman does not have all of the SEK 234,000 she received from the Social Insurance Agency.
She also thinks it is unreasonable that she should have to take out a loan to pay the authority, and according to the radio channel, does not want to pay for the Social Insurance Agency’s mistake.
DON’T MISS: Long waiting times at Försäkringskassan: “We regret”
Fredrik Falk at Försäkringskassan explains that they have proceeded as usual.
– As always, we send proposals for decisions, and then the person liable for repayment gets a reply within a number of days. This person can request a review of the decision, or appeal if the decision is not changed. If the entire amount cannot be paid in at once, an installment plan is drawn up, he tells Nyheter24.
If the woman, who, according to P4 Sjuhärad, is not very positive about paying the money back to the Social Insurance Agency, refuses to pay, the sum can end up with the Kronofogden.
– If the person liable for repayment were to refuse to pay, we at Försäkringskassan have an obligation to forward the request to the Crown Enforcement Agency, says Falk.

Försäkringskassan: “It simply cannot happen again”
According to the radio channel the woman has been granted an installment plan of 12 months.
At Försäkringskassan, they have fixed the problem that arose last summer.
What will you do to make sure this doesn’t happen again?
– We are constantly working to reduce incorrect payments and we take it seriously when tax money goes to something that was not intended, says Falk to Nyheter24, and continues:
– The lack of control from last summer has now been corrected. It simply cannot happen again, especially not with such large sums as in this case.
