The French journalist and writer Jean-Pierre Perrin is one of the co-authors of the graphic novel “Woman, Life, Freedom” dedicated to the revolt that has shaken Iran since the death of Mahsa Amini. Raphaël Krafft met him to The media workshop.

“Woman, life, freedom” is the slogan of the feminist movement that Iran has experienced since the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022. It is also the title of a collective comic strip, coordinated by the Franco-Iranian artist Marjane Satrapi, published by L’Iconoclaste.

Long-time senior reporter for the French daily Release, Jean-Pierre Perrin is one of the co-writers of this comic. At the microphone of Raphaël Krafft, he recounts the genesis of this project, reviews the course of events in Iran and explains in particular how the comic book format was adapted to tell the story of the Iranian feminist movement.
