Woman is sentenced to a fine after the demonstration in Lundagård

The woman, who is a native of Denmark, broke the law when she did not leave Lundagård after a call from the police, Lund District Court believes.

She belonged to a group of protesters who camped in Lundagård in connection with a demonstration to, among other things, get Lund University to stop all cooperation with institutions and companies in Israel. The tent camp was broken up by police early in the morning on May 30, when the university was to conduct a doctorate at the same location.

Student protests against the Gaza war

  • Three people are charged after the student protests in Lundagård

  • Pro-Palestinian protester charged with disobedience to law enforcement – passively resisting

  • The woman has claimed during the trial that she does not understand Swedish very well and therefore did not understand the police’s call for her to leave the scene. The district court states in its judgment that the police made announcements with loudspeakers in both Swedish and English and therefore leaves her claims without regard – they are called “pure afterthought constructions in the judgement”.

The 28-year-old is sentenced to a 30-day fine for disobedience to law enforcement.

A total of 14 people have now been sentenced after the demonstration in Lundagård.
