The emergency services were alerted at 16.32 to a fully developed fire in a terraced house on Härnön in Härnösand.
– The fire has been quite strong, says Mikael Lundberg, officer on duty at the rescue service.
A woman in her 60s was found in the home, whose life could not be saved. The police have informed her next of kin.
Extinguishing work continues
The fire has now been subdued somewhat according to the emergency services, but it is too early to say how big the risk of spreading is.
– Initially, we had a fairly large risk of spread, now we want to ensure that we did not get the fire into the construction, says Mikael Lundberg.
Preliminary investigation initiated
Several fire stations participate in the extinguishing work.
The police have launched a preliminary investigation into public negligence and the scene is now cordoned off pending a technical investigation.
