The incident occurred in the spring of 2021.
The female employee chose to step into the cabinet because she was going to wipe it out and needed to reach at a high height. In connection with that, the cabinet overturned.
The woman was injured and suffered a fracture in her femur, and after the incident she was also on sick leave for a long time.
Forced to fine 200,000 kroner
The prosecutor believes that the accident could have been prevented if those responsible had not failed to make safety rounds and assess the workplace’s risk, then it would have been discovered that the cupboards were not secured.
According to the operations manager, the cupboards have now been repaired and otherwise it is not seen that any routines need to be changed.
– We do not change routines. We continue with regular security patrols. The cause of the accident has been rectified, says Catharina Ingvarsson, Acting Director of Operations.
Region Västerbotten is now required to pay SEK 200,000 in fines for work environment violations.
