Woman embezzled millions from church

A woman is charged with embezzling large sums of money from a parish foundation within the Church of Sweden in Örebro county over several years. In total, it is about SEK 2.2 million, reports P4 Örebro.

The woman called the police herself and reported herself when it became clear that the congregation had discovered that there was no money in the foundation.

She has stated that she did not know that such large sums were involved.

– I don’t remember when it started, how much it involved. It came as a shock, she said in questioning, writes Nerikes Allehanda.
