Woman charged after shrubs ignited at Wallaceburg store: CK police

A woman has been charged after a fire outside a Wallaceburg store Thursday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to Walmart on McNaughton Avenue about 4:30 pm learned a suspected thief had ignited shrubs outside after being escorted from the store, police said. A suspect was arrested.

A Wallaceburg woman, 41, is charged with arson, theft, possessing stolen property and public intoxication, police said. She was released with a Dec. 11 short date.

Pair charged after clash

A man and woman face charges after a Thursday morning clash in Chatham Township, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to a disturbance on Longwoods Road about 8:30 am learned an argument between two people had turned physical, police said.

A man, 54, and woman, 48, both of Chatham Township, are charged with assault, police said. They were both released with conditions and a Jan. 8 short date.

Assault, harassment suspect arrested

A man wanted on assault, harassment and other charges has been arrested, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to May 14 disturbance on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham learned an argument between a man and woman had turned physical, then the man had blocked the woman as she tried to leave, police said.

The man also went repeatedly to the women’s home trying to communicate with her, police said.

A Chatham man, 29, was charged with assault, forcible confinement and criminal harassment, police said. An arrest warrant was issued when he could not be found.

The man was arrested on Fourth Street in downtown Chatham about 6 am Friday, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
