Woman assaulted after theft from vehicle

A woman said she was assaulted Wednesday evening after confronting someone rummaging through her vehicle.

The vehicle owner confronted a woman around 6:30 pm in the area of ​​Trudeau Drive and Confederation Street. The woman initially turned over some items taken from the vehicle but then became violent, striking the vehicle owner in the chest and fleeing, Sarnia police said.

A suspect was found by police at 8 pm in Murphy Road and Wellington Street and arrested.

A search turned up property reported stolen from two vehicles, police said. A credit card stolen from another vehicle was used at a store.

A 33-year-old Sarnia woman is charged with assault, theft under $5,000, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a probation order.

Man arrested after woman pushed from a moving vehicle

Sarnia police arrested a 62-year-old man after a woman was pushed from a moving vehicle near Indian Road and Devine Street on June 16.

A 58-year-old woman said she was in a vehicle with a male driver when an argument began and she was pushed out of the vehicle while it was moving about 50 km/h.

The woman was treated at hospital for a dislocated knee and scratches.

The man was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm, dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.
