A woman in her 50s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man of the same age was subjected to serious violence with an attachment in a small town east of Jönköping.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but he was talkative and the condition is not considered life-threatening at this time.
– The violence is so gross and so serious that there is a risk that he will die. For that reason, we have started a preliminary investigation into attempted murder, says Mikael Ehne, duty officer at the police.
The crime took place indoors and the woman could be arrested at the scene, which the police have cordoned off to secure evidence. The woman is being questioned and the police are also looking for witnesses to the incident.
