Cold facts revealed the troll factory at the Sweden Democrats’ communications department in two attention-grabbing parts. The programs show interviews with people from the Psychological Defense Agency (MPF) where they talk about disinformation. However, the authority believes that the interviews were taken out of context as the people talk about foreign undue influence, rather than domestic, and has reported the program to the Review Board. Director General Magnus Hjort further demands that the clips be completely deleted from the program. Thinks the general manager should resign. Cold facts’ responsible publisher Fredrick Malmberg does not think a correction is needed as he thinks it is clear that it is a collage of interviews on the same theme. Something that Dagens Nyheter’s editor-in-chief Peter Wolodarski agrees with in his Sunday column in the newspaper. Wolodarski further directs sharp criticism at the director general Magnus Hjort, and calls the authority’s demands “astonishing”. The editor-in-chief insists that only the responsible publisher can remove publications afterwards, and that MPF’s actions are not compatible with the constitution. “So we have a central Swedish defense authority, whose task is to protect the democratic society and the free formation of opinions, which acts in violation of the Swedish constitution – an accident that the judicial ombudsman or the chancellor of justice should investigate carefully,” writes Wolodarski, who calls Magnus Hjort “a useful idiot for the Sweden Democrats”. “To restore confidence in the MPF, he should leave his post,” he concludes.
