William Poromaa angered the entire biathlon world.
Now Wolfgang Pichler enters the debate – with a big boot for the Swede.
– Poromaa is young, hot and likes to talk, says the German to Expressen.
Recently gave William Poromaa himself on the entire biathlon world with several slaps in the SVT program “Kallprat”. The Swedish WC bronze hero spoke openly about his dislike of the sport, that it was too boring and that the big star Johannes Thingnes Bö wouldn’t stand a chance against him in cross-country skiing.
Poromaa’s words
It aroused strong opinions among the biathletes, who were not slow to fight back against the cocky cross-country skier. Now even the iconic biathlon coach gives himself up Wolfgang Pichler into the discussion and hits back at William Poromaa.

And comes with a highly unprovoked slip Stina Nilsson.
– I can only say to Poromaa, keep your cool, it only takes energy. Maybe we should state that cross-country skiers are not that strong anyway, Stina Nilsson went from the best to…, no now I was just joking, he tells Expressen.
– But with Poromaa, he is young, hot and likes to talk. They are two talkers, Sebastian and Poromaa, it is perfect for the media.
Pichler’s answer
Pichler is also a mentor to Poromaa’s coach Lars Ljung, so he knows the “Wille” snack bag very well. In addition, the German remembers back to when he himself started the same spat between sports.
– I told him that too, that I made the same mistake at the end of the 90s, then I had an argument in the media about cross-country skiing being crap. He will learn from it, says the former national team captain to the evening newspaper.

Wolfgang Pichler would prefer that both sports worked closer together, where cross-country skiers and biathletes could be helped to improve in their respective areas.
– The Swedes should stick together, they are two completely different sports. But I can answer Poromaa directly: Who has won the Swedish long-distance premiere? Fredrik Lindström (Swedish biathlete). Who has won the WC in cross-country skiing? Lars Berger (Norwegian biathlete). He can get many examples of that. However, we need this, the sports need some hot people, he says in the interview.
