A wolf was killed in Norrtälje municipality on Thursday evening, during the protective hunt that the Stockholm County Administrative Board had previously decided on. Now the protection hunt ends with immediate effect, the county administrative board writes in a press release.
The wolf was shot near a pasture where five sheep were killed in an attack earlier in the evening.
The county board decided on a protective hunt for wolves in an area north of Norrtälje on April 16, after two mini Shetland ponies were attacked.
The wolf is now transported to the State Veterinary Medical Institution, and through DNA tests it will be found out if the same wolf was behind the attack on the two Shetland ponies.
