Woerden prepares seriously polluted land for housing construction

In the years after the Second World War, the soil there became heavily polluted. This was due to the activities of a metalworking company. Other parties that were interested in building houses on the land dropped out due to the high remediation costs. The soil contamination could also lead to risks for drinking water extraction in the long term, reports the province of Utrecht.
