Witnesses sought after three-vehicle crash: Chatham-Kent police

Chatham-Kent police want to hear from anyone who witnessed a multi-vehicle crash at a busy intersection on Chatham’s eastern edge Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the three-vehicle crash at Grand Avenue West and Communications Road about 3 p.m., police said.

A vehicle heading east on Grand Avenue collided with a vehicle waiting to turn left, then crossed the intersection and collided with a westbound vehicle waiting at the red light, police said.

One driver was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment, police said.

The vehicle was towed and secured for further investigation, police added.

Vehicle didn’t give space, man charged

An out-of-town driver was charged after a vehicle failed to give space while passing a crash on Highway 401, provincial police say.

An officer stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 401 Easy near Communication Road after it failed to change lanes while passing a commercial vehicle crash about noon Tuesday, Elgin OPP’s Chatham-Kent detachment said.

A Mississauga driver, 23, is charged with failing to move into another lane for an emergency vehicle or tow truck and single counts of failing to surrender license and insurance card, police said.

Windsor police seek shooting suspect

Windsor police were searching for an armed robbery suspect who fired a shot an employee of a business.

Police say officers responded to a report of an armed robbery Saturday just after 9 pm in the 800 block of Grand Marais Road East. Police said a male suspect had entered a business, pointed a pistol at an employee and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Before fleeing the area, the suspect fired one round in the direction of the employee, police said, adding that no injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a man wearing a black hoodie with a white Adidas graphic. The hood was over his head. He also wore black pants, black boots, black gloves, a black mask and carried a black leather side bag slung over his shoulder.
