Witness chases gunmen after shooting in Sollentuna

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The trial of a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who are facing charges following a shooting late at night on September 3rd of this year has now ended.

Footage that TV4 Nyheterna i år was able to publish shows how two people dressed in black and masked jump out of a blue Audi on Malmvägen in Sollentuna.

Armed with a rifle and the MP5 submachine gun respectively, they then started shooting wildly at a gate entrance to the apartment building. 30 shots were fired.

No one at the address was injured – however, the 17-year-old accidentally got shot in the head by his friend, according to the prosecutor. When they intended to leave the place, the Audi had rolled away as the perpetrators forgot to apply the handbrake.

The witness’s actions are decisive

Shortly after the chaotic escape, a motorist alerted E4 about the Audi’s journey – and followed at the same time as the private person updated the police on the car’s position, an alarm call that TV4 Nyheterna can now publish. The resourceful witness also drove after when the gunmen went to a sports field, set fire to the Audi and switched to a Volvo. The witness was also able to tell where the new getaway car went and what it looked like.

The police task force was able, a quarter of an hour after the witness called 112, to find and stop the Volvo. In the back seat lay the 17-year-old with life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old sat as driver.

– The witness’s information was probably completely decisive for the police stopping the Volvo on the E4 a little later and saving the life of the shot on the spot in the car, says District Attorney Jenny Karlsson.

The 17-year-old is charged with attempted murder, suspected of having opened fire on the apartment building. The prosecutor, on the other hand, has not been able to charge the 21-year-old as a shooter, instead he is suspected of aiding and abetting attempted murder for having helped acquire one of the weapons, rowed on Malmvägen and burned the Audi.
Both are also suspected of extremely serious weapons offenses and damage.

Connects to gang fight: Close hit by hail of bullets

According to the police, the defendants are part of a criminal network in Upplands Väsby. The gang is in conflict with a network that has Malmvägen as a central address, the investigation states.

The police have been able to identify a man as the plaintiff as he was one of those who were in the gate and could have been hit by the rain of bullets.

– It is still unclear whether the person named as plaintiff in the lawsuit was the intended victim or if he just happened to be there, says Karlsson.

– We can see from the surveillance footage that there were people moving around at the scene shortly before, and of course it’s lucky that no one was seriously injured.
