“Within 30 seconds I would call Keanu”

Within 30 seconds I would call Keanu

John Wick: Chapter 4, starring Keanu Reeves as the hitman henchman, was a huge hit at the box office. It’s a law in Hollywood that success leads to a sequel. Now Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski are clarifying what they think of John Wick: Chapter 5.

John Wick 5 was canceled and announced again: That’s what Keanu Reeves and the makers think of it

Warning, spoilers for John Wick 4 follow: John Wick: Chapter 5 was originally supposed to be filmed directly after Part 4. However, the plans were canceled and John Wick was buried in the finale. So it’s understandable that fans of the series were extremely confused when John Wick 5 was announced again in May.

After that, the sequel went quiet. Now we have one fresh statement from Chad Stahelski, who directed all of the John Wick films. Stahelski found some straight words with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, reports CinemaBlend. He would not hesitate for a second with a good idea:

We’ll mind our other stuff for a while. But if I had an idea while driving or walking the dog, I would call Keanu within 30 seconds and we would start joking.

The motivation to brainstorm Part 5 with Keanu Reeves is great. But there is a lack of time and a brilliant idea, how John Wick is resurrected (or never died). However, it is always a good sign for the end product if the maker and the main actor are motivated. Reeves and Stahelski, of course, chatted about John Wick 5:

Now if you were to ask Keanu if he wants to do John Wick 5, he would ‘Yeah damn’ say.

Keanu Reeves would also say, according to Stahelski: “But what could [John Wick 5] be? I don’t have a damn idea.”

We hold that Status quo by John Wick 5 firm: Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski are motivated for John Wick 5, but are taking care of other projects first. The studio is just as motivated, but has to wait for a brilliant idea for the story. If the idea for the sequel and the resurrection from the grave is really good, then we’ll be happy to wait.

Until then there will be four (!) more John Wick films and series.
