MYNET-FOREIGN NEWS The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in America issued a food safety warning regarding the multi-state Listeria outbreak in their official statement across the country. As of November 17, 11 people admitted to hospitals from seven states were diagnosed with Listeria. It was stated that a person diagnosed with Listeria in California died and a pregnant patient gave birth prematurely.
THEY PACKED THE PACKAGES BACK
California-based HMC Farms company collected the bags of organic peaches and plums sold in two-pound quantities across the country between May 1 and November 15, 2023, from stores. Consumers who purchased the fruit are being told to throw it away immediately or return it to the store. It was stated that a person who has packages of the recalled product in the refrigerator should definitely wipe the surface of the package of the product.
“There is nothing more important to us than providing consumers with safe, high-quality fruit. We would never want anyone to get sick from eating fresh fruit. The company is working to investigate the source of the problem,” said Amy Philpott, company spokeswoman for HMC Farms.
SYMPTOMS OF LISTERIA DISEASE
Authorities underlined that the disease can be especially dangerous in people who are pregnant, 65 years of age and older, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms, which usually begin within 2 weeks after consuming contaminated food, include fever, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, neck stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, and seizures.
