Withdraws from the French parliamentary elections – wearing a Nazi cap

Ludivine Daoudi has run for the right-wing nationalist National Assembly in the elections to the French National Assembly in a constituency in the department of Calvados. She was one of three candidates to advance to the second round on Sunday, after receiving over 19 percent of the vote. But now she’s pulling out.

The reason is that one of her opponents published a picture of her wearing an officer’s cap from the Luftwaffe, Germany’s air force during World War II. Among other things, a swastika can be seen on the cap.

“Not a single vote for these reprehensible fascists on July 7,” writes Emma Fourreau, candidate for the far-left cooperation New People’s Front in the post that has been published on X.

“Taken many years ago”

Ludivine Daoudi’s party colleague Philippe Chapron, who is standing in another constituency in the same department, confirms to the French media that the colleague is withdrawing.

– This picture was taken a long time ago, when she was not even a member of the National Collection. It was taken many years ago at an arms fair, he says France info.

Ludivine Daoudi herself has not commented on the picture.

– She withdraws so as not to harm the National Assembly and our candidates. We cannot accept this kind of thing, says Philippe Chapron.
