The Finnish women’s national football team Helmarit will start the EC qualifiers in April. The head coach Marko Saloranta named a 24-man squad on Thursday.

– We will get a good team up and running. We’ve had a pretty good situation throughout the fall and winter, there have been quite a few injuries and the players have played really good roles in their club teams, Saloranta tells Palloliitto in the bulletin.

There will be only one addition to the team that played in the Pinatar Cup in Spain in February, the goalkeeper who was sidelined at the time Anna Tamminen return to the group. They are on the sidelines for the April games Emmi Alanen and Emmi Siren.

– Emmi Alanen has to stay on the sidelines and Emmi Siren, who was injured in Spain, almost made it, but we didn’t want to take a risk, Saloranta says.

Finland will start the European Championship qualifiers on April 5, when they face Norway away from home. In the home club, the games start on April 9, when Italy arrives at the Töölö football stadium in Helsinki.
