With the shot announcement of its Go and Pro models, the specialist in connected and motorized locks Nuki creates a coherent range, which will suit all needs and all budgets.

We are not unemployed with the Austrian Nuki! After the Smart Lock ultra launched last fall (which had disappointed us a little, read our test), the specialist in motorized connected lock continues to extend its catalog with two models not only more affordable but also a little simpler to adopt. Particularly because, unlike the Smart Lock Ultra, neither the Smart Lock Pro nor the Smart Lock Go does not oblige to change its barrel. This is called retrofit, in other words the ability to adapt an engine to its existing lock. We therefore gain in ease of installation and this also allows you to keep the same keys for your home. It is recalled that this is however only possible on the condition of already having a disengageable barrel, that is to say which makes it possible to insert two keys both in the lock, one inside and one outside. This is the condition sine qua no To be able to continue to open your door from the outside in a traditional way with its key and enjoy the engine.

Nuki Smart Lock Pro: like Utra but without changing locks

If you liked the new design of the Smart Lock Ultra but the prospect of having to change your barrel had cooled you, the new smart lock pro is made for you. It indeed takes up the same cylindrical and very compact external aspect of the ultra, but by adding 12 mm deep to it to be able to accommodate a key which will therefore remain in place permanently in the lock. It is this key that the engine of the Smart Lock Pro will run each time the lock is activated. It is precisely to gain compactness that the Smart Lock Ultra obliges to use a specific barrel with reduced length.

For the rest, everything is identical between the pro model and the ultra model, including the three locking/unlocking speeds, introduced with the Smart Lock Ultra. And we also find the recharging mode which therefore always rests on a owner cable: USB-C charger side but a small round and magnetic connector on the lock side. It is a compromise assumed by Nuki to obtain the greatest possible compactness since this surface magnetic connector occupies any space inside the lock. This is also what allows the lock to be loaded by leaving it on the door, either because you have an electrical outlet nearby, or using a portable battery. The major drawback is that you have to be careful not to lose the cable! A bit of a shame in these times of general standardization around the USB-C socket on all our devices.

Nuki Smart Lock Go: a truly convincing entry level

Unlike the pro model, the smart lock go plays the card of continuity with the previous range. On the design side it looks like two drops of water at the smart lock 4 which we particularly liked (read our test). What is more, its price drops 40 euros, without making compromise on the features since it is standard compatible Bluetooth and thread on the wireless and matter connection side for integration into its connected house.

You can also activate remote access via Wi-Fi by paying an additional 49 euros. The approach is interesting because if you already have compatible Thread and Matter connected objects at home, the Smart Lock Go will integrate it automatically and what will allow it to be controlled remotely, even far from home. On the energy side, the SmartLock Go works on four AA batteries, but you can also buy optional, too for 49 euros, a rechargeable battery pack in USB-C, more practical and more efficient, while avoiding disposable batteries. Be careful, unlike the ultra or professional smart lock, we can only load the battery pack of the smart lock go by removing it from the lock. In other words, during load, we are forced to turn the key in hand. But recharge does not last more than an hour or two …

Nuki Smart Lock: a now consistent range

With the announcement of the Smart Lock Pro and Go, Nuki now has a range that meets all needs and for all tastes. For those who favor design and compactness, the ultra model is the best on the market for the slightly high price of 349 euros, but which, let us remember, includes a high-end barrel too. To avoid having to change your barrel without sacrificing on the design, the Smart Lock Pro at 269 euros is probably the best choice in the range to date. But Nuki has therefore not forgotten the smallest budgets by offering the Smart Lock Go at 149 euros (excluding options), a little more imposing on the door, but with very complete functions. For the moment, these three connected locks are not available for purchase on the manufacturer’s site.
