With the release of Android 16, Google Telephone is entitled to a deep overhaul. The interface of some tabs has been reviewed, and it is now possible to personalize the gestures to pick up.
For several weeks, Google has been operating in depth transformation of the design of its operating system with the deployment of Android 16, in order to standardize and modernize all of its applications. To do this, the company gradually applies the new Material 3 Visual Charter. Gmail, photos or messages have already been entitled to it. It is now the turn of Google Telephone, installed by default on Android smartphones, to take advantage of it. Some users can already test a few news with the beta version (version 180.0.771769344), including a new interface and new gestures to manage incoming calls.
Google Telephone: a new harmonized and personalized interface
With Material 3 expressive, the current call screen displays larger and rounded pill -shaped buttons, while the names of the contacts and the photos of the appellants are more highlighted. As for the “recent” tab, it now has a contrasting background with rounded edges.
The application now allows you to choose the gesture to be made to answer an incoming call, with two possibilities to choose from. The first, called “Simple support”, includes two separate buttons, “answer” and “refuse”, on which just press to receive or hang up an incoming call. Classic in short.
The second, “horizontal scan”, adds a pill -shaped cursor to the incoming call screen. Just make a scan to the right to drop out, or to the left to reject the call. Again, the interface is purified, with pill -shaped elements. All these new features are available for a limited number of users, but they should soon be accessible to the general public, at the rate of things.
