With the P50 Pocket Huawei goes to the clamshell

Huawei has officially unveiled its foldable phone, the P50 Pocket. The very neatly designed smartphone has unique advantages for its competitor the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. It is deprived of 5G and the absence of Google services remains a weak point.

Insects are seriously threatened by pesticides, urbanization and intensive agriculture. But the waves from cell phones could also be harmful to them.

At the last CES (Consumer Electronics Show), for smartphones, innovation once again revolved around models foldable. While we thought it was set back from theuniverse smartphones, the Chinese Huawei returns where we no longer expected, with the arrival of its own foldable smartphone, clamshell style, the P50 Pocket. As for each opus, the design has been meticulous with the use of particular materials, such as metal liquid made of zirconium. It’s very very high-end cut to rub shoulders with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Like him, it is a flip smartphone.

On the other hand, unlike all of its competitors, Huawei has achieved a feat: that of leaving no gap in the middle of the mobile, when the 6.9-inch screen (2,790 x 1,188 pixel, 21:9) is folded in half. The manufacturer evokes a multidimensional hinge that it has patented. Once foldedthe mobile remains capable of displaying notifications and other information on a small circular screen in color placed outside. Once closed, its dimensions allow it to fit into most pockets. Its thickness then remains limited to 1.5 centimeters and the mobile weighs 190 grams. Beneath the screen is the mighty Snapdragon 888 accompanied by 8 to 12 GB of random access memory and 256 to 512 GB of storage capacity.

A premium version like a work of art

Small particularity, 5G is not there. The constructor must always undergo the constraints of the American embargo against it. These are also the same barriers that make the mobile remains deprived of all Google services. Even if Huawei has made a huge effort to ensure that the user experience is not hampered by the absence of Play store and associated Google services, this absence may remain prohibitive for users who use these services on a daily basis when they are integrated into an Android mobile.

On the photo side, the P50 Pocket is also top notch, with a large round photo module with a sensor 40-megapixel main camera, 13 MP ultra-wide angle camera, another 32MP so-called “ultra-spectrum” sensor to improve colorimetry. Finally, the module also contains new detectors capable of emitting ultraviolet to better capture the contours of objects. For prices, the Huawei P50 Pocket will be available from 1er March from 1,299 euros in its white version. In the meantime, the Premium Gold version, whose aesthetics were designed by the artist Iris Van Herpen, is already available at a price of 1,599 euros. With this special edition, the back of the device features a 3D sculpted micro design. For its launch, the mobile is supplied with a pair oflisteners Bluetooth FreeBuds Lipstick.
