Six people were killed on August 28 by several Russian strikes in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine. A new Russian offensive, while “massive” strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure at the beginning of the week had already left at least five dead and forced the authorities to impose power cuts in several regions.
Faced with this resurgence of Russian strikes, kyiv has requested a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council this Wednesday afternoon. Anti-aircraft defense, a crucial need for Ukraine, will be one of the main topics of this meeting with the Atlantic Alliance.

Six dead in Russian strikes in eastern Ukraine
Six people have been killed by multiple Russian strikes in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, the regional governor said, in an area where Russian forces have claimed responsibility for capturing a new village.
“In the morning, the Russians killed four people and destroyed a house in Izmailivka,” a village located very close to the front, Vadym Filashkin said on Telegram. The victims of this strike were from the same family, two parents and their children aged 17 and 24, according to the prosecutor. Another attack killed two people near Chassiv Yar, a regional stronghold, he added.
Zelensky to present Biden with plan to end war
According to the American news agency Reuters, Volodymyr Zelensky assured on Tuesday that he would soon present a plan for ending the war to US President Joe Biden and his two potential successors at the head of the United States, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The Ukrainian president assured that the conflict with Russia will one day end with dialogue, but that kyiv will have to be in a position of strength for this.
“The main point of this plan is to force Russia to end the war. And this is what I very much hope for, that it will be fair for Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president said at a press briefing in kyiv, assuring that the incursion into the Russian region of Kursk was indeed part of this plan.

A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council is to take place this Wednesday afternoon, at the request of kyiv, following massive Russian strikes on Monday and Tuesday on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, the Atlantic Alliance announced.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is expected to “brief the Allies on the situation on the battlefield by video,” a NATO spokesman said. Air defense, which Ukraine needs critically, will be one of the topics of the meeting, a diplomatic source said.
