With the end of account sharing and the increase in subscription prices, having a Netflix or Disney+ account is expensive! But you can drastically reduce the bill thanks to this perfectly legal technique.
Two euros for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, three euros for Disney+ and Apple TV+… In recent years, the prices of streaming platforms have continued to increase while the offer is increasingly fragmented with the arrival of new video on demand (SVOD) services such as Max and Paramount+. Result: it is becoming difficult to find your way around without breaking the bank.
The latest move: Netflix, which is removing its €10.99 Essential subscription for existing users. They have no choice but to subscribe to the €5.99 subscription with advertising – very profitable for the company – or Standard without advertising at €13.99, i.e. three euros more to avoid being bombarded with ads – which is still the reason why many people have turned away from traditional television. For its part, Disney+ is also starting its fight against the sharing of free accounts and has decided to incorporate advertising into all its subscriptions. It’s starting to get a bit much!
But there is a trick – legal, at that! – to benefit from a Netflix or Disney+ subscription at a reduced price despite the end of free account sharing: co-subscription. In this system, account owners can offer unused places on their packages to co-subscribers. This allows the bills of the different users of the account to be pooled and costs to be reduced, in the spirit of carpooling.
There are now several platforms specializing in subscription sharing, such as Spliiit and Sharesub – the other two “big ones”, Sharit and Diivii, have unfortunately filed for bankruptcy. This system is very effective and allows you to really save money! In addition, the platform sharing system does not normally allow for sharing costs, it is the person with the account who pays everything free of charge. Thus, on Spliiit, you can enjoy a Premium subscription not at 19.99 euros per month, but at 12.18 euros. The same goes for YouTube Premium, which costs you 5.19 euros instead of 12.99 euros.
These co-subscription platforms do not intervene at all in the account sharing process, which is a system set up by the platforms themselves, but in the financial transaction, by securing and distributing the costs. A bit like what Blablacar offers! Subscription holders offer their available places and interested co-subscribers subscribe directly via the platform. It is also the platform that manages all payments to avoid any exchange of confidential information. Note that Spliiit has adapted to the new policies of Netflix, and soon Disney+, allowing subscription sharing to continue completely legally – they also won a lawsuit against certain SVODs, brought before the paid account sharing system was set up.
But Spliiit and Sharesub don’t just offer to share SVOD accounts! Online newspapers, music streaming, e-commerce services (such as Cdiscount and Amazon Prime), reading, well-being, e-learning, Cloud storage services, IT security solutions, software… You will certainly find what you are looking for in this difficult period of inflation!
