With sickly shyness

As a child, Lionel Messi was sickly shy. He even had a disturbing behavior at times, as once recounted at Street 89, Roman Besa, journalist at El Pais: “One fine day, Lionel entered the field with a plastic spoon in his mouth. He did not let go of it until the end of the session. It was a way to show that he was upset. Why? Nobody knew and nobody ever tried to find out.” According to Romario, the former Brazilian player, Messi is even suffering from Asperger’s syndrome, a form of mild autism.
