With Patch 1.5.0 many of you will soon be able to test Season 5 – Patch Notes

On June 21st, the developers of Diablo 4 announced that there will be a test server for Season 5 as early as next week. MeinMMO summarizes the highlights of the patch notes for 1.5.0 for the PTR.

The highlights from the stream:

  • As early as next week, there will be a PTR (public test server) for the new features in Season 5. All players with Battle.net access on PC can take part.
  • Season 5 starts on August 6th and will last until the release of the expansion “Vessel of Hatred” – specifically until October 8th. Season 6 will start at the same time.
  • There will be a new endgame activity – the “Infernal Hordes”. At the end of the activity, you can even choose the type of reward you receive. Summoning bosses in Diablo 4 will also be adjusted.
  • Items will be revised again, and numerous new legendaries and uniques will be added. There will also be some “quality of life” changes.
  • In the “Campfire Chat” livestream on YouTube on June 21, the developers of Diablo 4 announced that there will be a PTR (public test server) as early as next week. All players with Battle.net access on the PC can take part.

You can see the detailed English patch notes for the PTR on page two. A little warning: They are VERY long. As soon as the patch notes are available in German, we will update the article.

Season 5 will run until the expansion launches. Here you can see the cinematic trailer for Vessel of Hatred:

New features from Season 5 on the PTR

What can I test on the PTR? In the livestream, the developers of Diablo 4 reported that you can test most of the features that will be coming to the game in Season 5. These include:

  • New activity “Infernal Hordes“ (in German, something like “Hell Hordes”): Here you activate a “Hell Compass” and then fight against waves of monsters and a boss. This will earn you various rewards. You get Hell Compasses through various endgame activities.
  • After completion, you can choose a reward box containing either equipment, gold or mats.
  • Items: According to the developers, the items will be revised again. There will also be 50 new uniques and legendaries. You can then farm uniques and Uber Uniques specifically from the curio dealer, in Helltide chests and from the Tree of Whispers.
  • Mythical Uniques: Uber Uniques become Mythic Uniques – they are now purple and have a new drop tone. The drop chance for Mythic Uniques in locations outside of bosses is increased.
  • Class Updates: There will be more buffs for the classes. Furthermore, the classes will have more options for equipping weapons. For example, necromancers will be able to carry axes.
  • Bosses: The Beast in the Ice can now be summoned via Mats, like the other bosses, and no longer via a Nightmare Seal. Varshan only needs one body part to summon instead of four. And you no longer need to leave and reset dungeons, but can summon the bosses again directly after the fight.
  • Quality of Life updates: The time required to complete Whisper quests is reduced. The number of quests in the Infernal Tide is increased. The quality of Treasure Goblin loot drops is improved.
  • PTR – Boost or take over character

There will be three ways you can play your character on the PTR:

  • You take over one of your current characters and play with it on the PTR
  • You level up a completely new character
  • You boost yourself directly to level 100 at the NPC “PTR Boost” in Zarbinzet and can play the endgame activities
  • After the boost you will receive: all new legendaries, 1 new unique, 100 million gold, 1,000 obols, potions, two equipment sets, all Paragon glyphs, up to 10 hardening recipes, a few mats
  • When does the PTR start? The PTR will launch on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. We suspect it will go live again in the evening and be available for a week.

How do I participate in the PTR? Like the PTR for Season 4, you can install the PTR directly via your Battle.net launcher. If you play Diablo 4 via the “PC Game Pass” or “Game Pass Ultimate”, you can also access it that way. You open the Battle.net launcher in the Xbox app and install the PTR.

At the end of the stream, the developers emphasized that they were very happy with the current Season 4. The PTR helped them a lot, including with the balance in Diablo 4. They were particularly happy with how the item system had developed. Many players are also excited about the current season. And some are so excited that they are giving up other things for it.
