A new robot is causing a sensation at CES 2023. Aimed primarily at the elderly, it can act as a caretaker, assistant and “all-purpose robot” thanks in particular to its two articulated arms. Meet aeo, a funny little robot.
The Japanese Aeolus Robotics presents aeo, a two-armed humanoid robot that offers new perspectives and very practical uses, especially for people with low mobility.
A robot with multiple functions
In terms of uses, it could thus perfectly fulfill a variety of services, ranging from delivery to care for the elderly and/or disabled, including the disinfection of sensitive premises. With his arms, he can indeed lift heavy loads, pick up objects, open doors or even use an elevator. In addition, algorithms dedicated to vision allow him to observe his environment and thus adapt his posture in relation to the places and position of the people with whom he is in contact.
Improving the quality of life of dependent people
With this brand new robot, more elaborate than ever, Aeolus Robotics intends to improve the quality of life of dependent people. Until now, the Japanese company had developed single-armed robots, so aeo is the first to have two articulated limbs, thus multiplying the possible interactions.
It is already beginning to be deployed in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, serving medical institutes. There, he can bring meals or medicine, hold a phone for a videoconference or to call the emergency room, patrol day and night in search of doors and windows left open or even disinfect equipment or entire rooms. .
