With its new generator of integrated chatgpt images, Openai was strong! His success is such that he saturated the servers of society. But it is again accessible to everyone, and for free!

On March 25, Openai unveiled its new and very impressive image generator, called “Images in Chatgpt” which, as its name suggests, is integrated directly into the chatbot. Led by GPT-4O, its omnimodal model launched in May 2024 which replaces Dall-E, it allows you to design quality images, from a simple textual request or on the basis of a photo. And the least we can say is that the novelty quickly appealed to Internet users! Many of them rush on AI to test it, in particular by transposing popular images in the style of Ghibli studios.

But the tool was the victim of its success, to the point of overheating the servers. Sam Altman even joked on this subject, saying that the company’s GPUs were “melting” under the intensity of the requests. An overload that ended in a generalized chatgpt breakdown on Sunday, March 31. The CEO of Openai asked Internet users to calm their ardor so that his team can rest and had to establish temporary limitations to stabilize his servers, in particular by restoring the new tool for paid subscribers. Finally, the image generator is again available for everyone! But that doesn’t appeal to everyone …

Chatgpt: a generator of images victim of its success

To use the new image generator, simply access Chatgpt on any device, start a new conversation and describe precisely the desired image – but the generation can take several (very long) minutes – in writing, we are still waiting – and meet a few bugs. Everyone, even users with a free account, can take advantage of it. Be careful however, Openai has established a limit for the latter, which is three images per day, in order to avoid too intensive uses.

A decision that aroused the ire of Chatgpt Plus and Chatgpt Pro subscribers, the two paid formulas. Because they too are always restricted in the number of images they can make, while they pay for a subscription every month. Here they are in the same brand as the others, which leads some to wonder for what advantages they pay exactly.

“Why offer this service to free users, while imposing up to 30 minutes of waiting for paid users between two generations? It feels like you have a unique product, that people would be ready to pay … if they could access them reliably”,, regret a surfer. The company was taken over by the success of its product, but it should soon correct the shooting and find a balance between functions accessible to free and paid subscriptions.
