As expected, Aurélien Tchouaméni joins Real Madrid. The Spanish club formalized, Saturday, June 11, an agreement for the arrival of the French midfielder from AS Monaco, who will receive an estimated sum of 100 million euros. A year after attracting Eduardo Camavinga, Madrid have a new player for the future in midfield.
Kylian Mbappé will not come, but Real Madrid still offers a young Frenchman at the opening of this summer transfer window 2022. For several days, the French and Spanish media have been reporting on a transfer on track for Aurélien Tchouaméni from Monaco to Real. The Spanish club confirmed, on Saturday June 11, an agreement with the Monegasques and the player for a six-year contract, i.e. until 2028.
In the operation, the ASM, which had paid 20 million euros to attract the player from Bordeaux in January 2020, will recover a sum estimated at 100 million euros by the specialized press: compensation of 80 million euros and various bonuses of 20 million euros.
Currently with the France team, Aurélien Tchouaméni has yet to pass his medical examination. It will be presented to the press and fans at the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium on Tuesday June 14.
Already installed in the France team
The 22-year-old midfielder has seen a meteoric rise since his professional debut in Gironde four years ago. Leaving the Bordeaux ship before it sank for good, with a relegation to Ligue 2 last May, Aurélien Tchouaméni continued his ascent on the Monegasque Rock, renowned for being a favorable ground for the hatching of the nuggets of tomorrow. .
Elected Ligue 1’s best hope in 2020-2021, the new Madrid player has confirmed his full potential in his position as a central midfielder this season. Athletic (1.88m, 82 kilos), tireless, he has risen among the players winning the most duels in the French championship. His performances naturally opened the doors to the France A team, when he had already passed through all the youth selections.
Called in August 2021 by Didier Deschamps, Aurélien Tchouaméni honored his first cape in September of the same year. Last March, he registered his first international goal against Ivory Coast. And between the recurring injuries and the mishaps that the Paul Pogba-N’Golo Kanté duo may experience, it is increasingly asserting itself as an ideal and immediate solution for the Blues.
Camavinga-Tchouaméni, two Blues for the future of the White House
For Real Madrid, the recruitment of Aurélien Tchouaméni is both a choice for the immediate future and for the future, like that of Eduardo Camavinga last summer in Rennes. The reigning European champion has a still very efficient midfield with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro. The Merengues have just extended the Croatian’s contract until June 2023.
But these three players, pillars of the Champions League successes of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022, are not eternal. Luka Modric is 37 years old, Toni Kroos is 32 and a half, Casemiro has just passed the 30-year mark. And the first two will be out of contract in a year. Already this season, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have had to slow down a little in the face of the accumulation of Real matches.
While some observers feared that Eduardo Camavinga would suffer from this competition and lack playing time, Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical choices allowed him to play regularly, in La Liga and in the Champions League. The same strategy could apply to Aurélien Tchouaméni now. In a game sector where the experienced trio Modric-Kroos-Casemiro and the youngest Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde work in harmony, the rookie has everything to gain.
