Season 2 of this thriller series, which was a big success in its early days, is back on Netflix.
Some of the biggest hits on streaming platforms are surprises that the media didn’t necessarily anticipate. This is particularly the case with this Netflix thriller series. When it was released in 2023, it was a hit with audiences, rising to seventh place among the most viewed English-speaking series on the platform, with 98.2 million views… better than season 3 of Stranger Things or season 2 of Bridgerton.
Unsurprisingly given the figures, this success was renewed for a sequel, which was released this week on Netflix. The question now is whether the subscribers will still be there, and whether it will follow in the footsteps of Squid Game, whose season 2 has been panicking the counters for a month.
Released in March 2023, The Night Agent follows a junior FBI agent in charge of the White House emergency response. One day, he receives a distress call: he finds himself at the center of a dangerous mission, which involves a mole in the White House as well as a vast conspiracy.
The Night Agent came to reveal actor Gabriel Basso to the public. The 30-year-old American actor had already distinguished himself in An American ode And The Big Cand has since been seen in the cinema in the Clint Eastwood film Juror #2 (he plays the accused). In the Netflix action series, he plays Luciane Buchanan (The container, Mother Tongue), Hong Chau (The Menu, Watchmen, The Whale), Sarah Desjardins (Yellowjackets) or Eve Harlow (Watson, The Edge of Sleep).
Season 2 of The Night Agent is already one of Netflix’s big releases for this month. The showrunner confirmed to Comicbook.com that this sequel will stand alone from the first, “in a different part of the world, to explore characters we saw in season 1.” The new episodes were posted online on the streaming platform on Thursday January 23, 2025. And fans can rest assured, a season 3 is already in preparation.
