Destiny 2 Witch Queen is coming to an end and will be replaced by the new DLC Lightfall. Nonetheless, the Witch Queen’s elusive DLC offered many important events that you should be aware of as the new DLC launches. We will bring you up to date in our overview.

What are these moments? Our listing is about the most important moments in Witch Queen and its four following seasons, which have spun new story threads. These events are important primarily because they provided important insight into the story and could thereby provide major impact on the future narrative.

The traveler gives the light to the crowd
What has happened there? During the Witch Queen storyline, Guardians discovered that the Witch Queen obtained the Traveler’s Light from him willingly. With these abilities, they and their followers were gifted the abilities of the Guardians as well as their own spirit shells.
The interesting thing is that the flock was chosen by the Traveler a long time ago. Unfortunately, the Traveler could not bless this insect-like race as the Darkness was faster and infected them with the Worms of Darkness. The ways of the traveler are unfathomable.
The voice in the darkness has a face: the witness
What has happened there? After the Keepers played through the story behind the Witch Queen, a witness cutscene opened up. This supremely powerful being of darkness commands the dark fleet and is essentially the mastermind behind the apparent escalation between the conflict of light and darkness.
So far, the witness hid behind his voice, but in his cutscene he was also assigned a face. With large black eyes, a smoky hairstyle covered in tortured faces, and a mysterious voice, he now commands the offensive against the Guardians. He also looks for new students who enforce his orders unconditionally.
Lord Saladin joins the Imperial Cabal Army
What has happened there? In Season of the Risen, Caiatl, the Cabal Princess and daughter of Calus, has been investigating the Witch Queen’s Radiant Spawn with her psions. Thanks to experiments, these could be analyzed and better understood. However, Crow was critical of these experiments and accidentally killed a key Psion who was leading the investigation.
This act of misstep had to be punished and to keep Crow from being torn to pieces, Lord Saladin “sacrificed” himself at Caitl’s for him. Because of this, Lord Saladin is now working with Caiatl and her Imperial army. He is now obliged to fill a seat on their War Council.
Nevertheless, the good Valus Forge can still be seen for one or the other Iron Banner, but not quite as often as before Witch Queen. In addition, his new commander always keeps an eye on him and watches everything he does.
Zavala is confronted with the shards of his past
What has happened there? The head of the Guardian Vanguard is Commander Zavala. Known for his unwavering, strong spirit, he always shows hope in front of his guardians. In Season of the Haunted, however, Zavala was mentally tested by the arrival of the Forsaken Leviathan.
In the past, Zavala was a rebellious Lightbearer who was often difficult to control. One day he met a woman named Safiyah who saw it as her job to provide medical help to people in need. She was only human, however, but Zavala was fascinated by her fearlessness and willingness to help.
Zavala and Safiyah grew closer and eventually both found a human baby on the battlefield of the fallen. They both wanted this upbringing and so they decided to leave the Iron Temple and live a quiet life.
Everything was going according to plan until their son Zavala, trying to emulate them, was mortally wounded while fighting the fallen. Since then, Zavala has blamed himself for this tragedy, even though many centuries have passed.
Eramis isn’t as bad as we thought
What has happened there? In Season of the Plunderers, the head of the House of Salvation, Eramis, made a comeback. Freed from her icy prison, she was commissioned by the Witness to find and collect many of the vessels of the one-time Witness disciple Nezarek. While she can be viewed as a villain, Season of the Plunderer shows that she has a good core.
She rescued Mithrax’s daughter when she was threatened by the Radiant Spawn. Even so, she still keeps in touch with Mara Sov in Season of the Seraph, thus showing her presence. There’s a good chance she might switch sides in Lightfall and join forces with the House of Light.
Osiris awakens from his comatose slumber
What has happened there? In Beyond Light, Osiris was taken by Savathun. She guided his body and was able to try to influence the following story.
When she was then released by Mara Sov through the exorcism of Osiris, Osiris fell into a comatose state. Until then, his fate seemed uncertain, but Saint-14 persevered and never left his side, with his friend Mithrax at his side.
Actually, the witness wanted to reclaim the darkness that was sealed with the pieces of Nezarek. It was still the pure, old darkness, the really good stuff from the old days, and therefore a darkness so powerful that it could be useful for what the witness was planning.
But the Guardians were quicker, and at the end of the season, Mithrax extracted this power and used it to awaken Osiris. For this he brewed him a so-called “mummy tea” from the remains of Nezarek. That was also the end of the story of Nezarek.
After all, thanks to the ancient Nezarek power, Osiris is back among the living. But what consequences will this drink have for the old Warlock? Time will tell.
Rasputin is back online and has a body
What has happened there? Season of the Seraph is all about reassembling Rasputin, the Warmind. The vanguard also wants to use its fighting power in the conflict against the crowd and the witnesses in order to be able to somehow win the fight between light and darkness.
Rasputin was finally planted in an exo-body with the help of the Guardians in Season 19 and can now help the Vanguard again with his arsenal of war satellites with the help of Ana Bray.
His final fate is still open.
Calus was crowned the Witness’s new disciple
What happened? Already in Beyond Light and Witch Queen, many guardians were puzzled as to what happened to Calus and whether he managed to contact the darkness. It may have been assumed that in Season of the Haunted, Caiatl’s father would have merged with the Leviathan ship, but this assumption turned out to be wrong.
Instead, Calus managed to make a pact with the Witness that will eventually make him the Witness’s student. He now has a new giant ship with his face on it, his own army, and is leading the battle in Neomuna, Lightfall’s new destination, with the “Shadow Legion”.
Whether Calus will still be held accountable and Caiatl will get her revenge, we will probably only find out in Lightfall, so stay tuned and “strengthen” yourselves.
