Actress Natalie Dormer (42) played the role of Margaery Tyrell in the series “Game of Thrones” and is remembered by many viewers. But she did not like her ending in the show in season 6 at all; her death was frustrating. She wanted to prevent her death, but nobody believed her and she was powerless.
What role does Margaery Tyrell play in Game of Thrones?
Even though the series Game of Thrones has been filmed for years, more stories await us in the world of Westeros
Actress says she and Margaery were both frustrated at her death
How does she die in the series? In season 6, Queen Cersei blows up the Septa in King’s Landing in a spectacular coup and kills the Sparrow Movement and the High Septon. Cersei herself had allowed this previously forbidden ecclesiastical-military order to be reestablished because she thought the church was easy to control, but the order is getting out of control. The problems are getting too much for Cersei.
When the Septa exploded, Mergery Tyrell died as collateral damage, which Cersei accepted because the young queen was a thorn in her side anyway.
Margaery is the only figure in the Septa who draws the right conclusions from Cersei’s absence from a trial and realises that Cersei is planning an attack. But the High Septon, who is the only person who could order an evacuation, hesitates.
This is what the actress says about her death: In an interview on YouTube, Dormer says she was frustrated that this was the way her character died in the series and that she wanted “more.”
But somehow this frustration also fits because her character was equally frustrated in the situation.
Because Margery realized what Cersei had planned and tried to warn everyone, but she was so frustrated with the character played by Jonathan Pryce [der Hohe Septon]that the actress’s frustration matched that of the character.
The explosion proved Margaery right because she knew it all along. That’s why Dormer felt he could let her go.
Is there still hope for Margaery? Margaery in the book is still alive. Perhaps George RR Martin had a different fate planned for her. In the show, the endings of many characters – and the end of the whole show – were unsatisfying. Since the showrunners had no novels to base the series on, the quality of the story dropped significantly.
Maybe Margaery will get an even more dignified end.
How would she have liked to die? In an earlier interview, Dormer had explained that if her character had to die, it would have been at the hands of a dragon, which would have been fitting.
