Winter storm sweeps northern parts of the US from coast

For example, more than a thousand flights have been canceled in Chicago.

In the northern parts of the United States, a large winter storm brings freezing rain and biting sleet to one place, snowdrifts to another, and even more than 30 degrees below zero.

One person is known to have died in storm-related deaths, when a man was caught in an avalanche in Idaho. Two others caught in the avalanche were rescued.

A blizzard with strong winds made it impossible to move outside in parts of Iowa, where on Monday Republicans will choose their candidate for the presidential election at the caucuses.

The candidates have canceled their campaign event on Friday due to the storm. Republican primary candidate Nikki Haley planned to hold campaign meetings by phone instead of the three canceled public meetings.

Ron DeSantis has not told about replacement events for his two canceled campaign events.

Over a thousand canceled flights in Chicago

In Chicago, Illinois, more than a thousand flights have been canceled at the city’s two airports. This adds to the plight of air passengers, as many United airline flights had already been canceled in Chicago due to inspections of Boeing 737 Max 9 planes. Parts of Illinois are forecast to get 30 inches of snow by Saturday.

In Kansas City, freezing rain and black ice have caused dozens of traffic accidents.

In South and North Dakota, which are used to harsh winter conditions, by Sunday, the frost will reach 30 degrees. In Montana, there is a warning that the wind will make it feel as cold as 49 degrees.

Rain has come as snow even in temperate Oregon near the Pacific Ocean.

In the northeastern part of the United States, on the other hand, they are preparing for floods. In New Jersey, for example, the Passaic River has already begun to overflow its banks and forced evacuations.
