Winter sports: Juni Arnekleiv after the Norwegian giant failure in the Biathlon World Cup hunting start: “Great with a beer”

Norway’s best skater finished in 30th (!) place on Sunday.

It is the nation’s worst hunting start result in the Olympic and World Cup context ever.

“Need to talk it through”

But when SVT Sport met the Norwegian skiers on Monday, they were still in good spirits.

– The first week of the WC has been a bit boring, so it was nice to have a beer yesterday, so now I’ve gotten over it, says Juni Arnekleiv, who finished in 31st place yesterday, and thus became the second best Norwegian.

– You need to talk through it, but not get stuck in it either. You need to move on as quickly as possible. Tomorrow is a new race where you start from scratch, she says.

“Dig a hole”

In an interview with NRK, World Cup leader Ingrid Tandmark Landevold – who finished 34th after six misses in the last two shootings yesterday – is on the same track.

– All you have to do is find a shovel as quickly as possible and dig a hole. What happened yesterday is nothing we can do anything about, it’s just a matter of putting it behind us and focusing on what we can do going forward, she says.
