Winter sales almost half of Italians have already decided that

(Finance) – Sales have already started in Valle d’Aosta, and from tomorrow, Saturday 4 January, the sales will start throughout Italy. Consumer interest is high: 46% have already decided to purchase at least one productwhile a further 50% will evaluate offers before buying, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos for Confesercenti.

On average, Italian families will spend approximately 218 euros for the wardrobe renovationwith higher figures in Central Italy (263 euros) and among the over 34s (239 euros). Sales remain the most popular promotional event: 53% consider them the most convenient time to shop, far surpassing Black Friday (20%).

As regards purchasing channels, physical stores remain ahead: 81% of Italians plan to make at least one purchase in-store, compared to 54% who will buy online.

Among the most desired products stand out sweaters and sweatshirts (51%)followed by footwear (49%), skirts and trousers (31%), and sweaters and tops (30%). Underwear (28%), shirts (22%), bags (21%) and outerwear (21%) also find space in preferences.

“Sales in physical stores are confirmed as the most awaited promotional event by Italians, a positive sign after an autumn of sluggish sales”, he states Benny Campobasso, president of Fismo Confesercenti. However, Campobasso underlines that the start date is too early: “The climatic winter has just begun, and there is a risk of selling off the collection before selling it fully. The almost uniformity of the start date is good, but the sales should really be placed at the end of the season, a request that we continue to strongly support.”
