Wins SM gold in the women’s all-svenskan

Three teams had a chance to win the women’s league.
After three thrilling matches, it is clear that Hammarby will take home the SM gold after 38 years of waiting.
– I love this group, says coach Pablo Pinonces-Arce to Viaplay.

Hammarby topped the table ahead of Häcken, both teams had 56 recorded points but Hammarby had a better goal difference. Close behind was Linköping with 55 points.

Hammarby visited the ninth IFK Norrköping, Häcken received the fourth Piteå. and Linköping welcomed table five Kristianstad.

Safe start for Hammarby

It started brightly for league leader Hammarby when Madelen Janogy made it 1-0 after seven minutes.

In the 32nd minute, Janogy extended the lead. The Hammarby star got the ball the wrong way in the penalty area, turned up and deliciously placed 2-0 into the far corner.

– We have to create opportunities, continue to create and be even more 100 percent in the box. Now it’s about not doing anything different but continuing as in the first, Madelen Janogy said after the first half in Viaplay.

IFK Norrköping started the second half strongly with a shot from My Cato. But unfortunate for the home team was that Ebba Handfast had to step on with a tightly wrapped thigh.

But just like in the first half, it was Hammarby who held the tempo.

The hedge chased the gold

What the Hammarby players didn’t know was that Häcken was chasing right behind. In the 75th minute, the Hisings team was only two goals away from going ahead on goal difference.

Despite several chances, there were no more goals – and Hammarby escaped the goal difference.

This means that Hammarby has now secured its first SM gold in 38 years and also a historic double.

– There are so many emotions right now, it’s hard to find words. The players are absolutely fantastic. I can do nothing but praise the players. The squad we’ve got, with the group and the quality, I love them, they’re awesome, says coach Pablo-Pinonces Arce to Viaplay.
