30 years of research provides living advice against the current • Linging may be more dangerous than overweight
There are so many “must” around health that make people feel bad.
Here is the professor who wants to lift the burden from our shoulders.
– In the middle age, it is better to be a little thick, says Fredrik Nyström.
He is a professor of internal medicine and chief physician and has been researching health for over 30 years. Now what he has come up with in his research with a bunch of health advice that is not the ones we are used to hearing.
Choose fat over carbohydrates
– Carbohydrates force the body to produce a lot of insulin and for some reason the fat tissue that comes from carbohydrates specifically ends up in the stomach and liver. In the long term, it is easier to keep the weight if you choose low carbohydrate diets than if you eat low fat diets.
Don’t lose weight
– We have a lot of data that shows that it is dangerous to be normal weight, thus having a BMI of under 25, when you are in the middle age. If you have a BMI of 28, which I usually lie on, you have less mortality than if you have a BMI below 25. And it removes a lot of burden from people who feel a little thick.
Drink red wine
– It is excellent to drink red wine for the food every night – especially if you eat a Mediterranean diet. If you drink red wine for the food, blood sugar is lowered faster after the meal, studies show. But there are no large quantities recommended – one glass a day for women and two for men.
Sniff if you like it
– We have done a study on what happens when you stop sniffing. We had 30 people who sniffed, very much white snuff, portion snus. It turned out that everyone gained weight, they got a little worse cholesterol and, above all, higher blood pressure. Everything went in the wrong direction.
Don’t work out too hard
– Today, the Vasaloppet goes. There is a large Swedish survey that shows that anyone who has run three to five Vasalopp has about three times the risk of getting atrial fibrillation compared to the one who has only run one. If you exercise so hard that your resting heart rate starts to go down, it is a simple receipt that your heart has been enlarged. Then it is conceivable if it is so useful for you?
Skip the breakfast
– You already have a very high level of the stress hormone cortisol in the morning. That’s what wakes us up in principle. It is very stupid to slap extra carbohydrates then! There are studies where people have been drawn to start having breakfast or quit – then those who stop eating breakfast win. In general, it is more effective in losing weight.
