Windy Sunday in southern Sweden – SMHI issues yellow warning

The yellow warnings apply to the Skagerrak, Kattegatt, Bälten, Öresund and the southern and southwestern Baltic Sea.

– It is due to a low pressure which is currently located between the British Isles and Iceland which is heading towards us, then the wind increases over these waters, says Emma Härenstam, meteorologist at SMHI.

Boats are affected

At most, it can blow up to 17 meters per second, which can mean problems for leisure boats and smaller commercial vessels, according to SMHI.

– In connection with the low pressure, we also have some rain moving in from the east tomorrow morning, says Emma Härenstam.

“Very temporary”

SMHI has previously issued a yellow warning for high flows in southern Scania.

But the low pressure is in a flash. Already during Sunday afternoon and evening the wind subsides, says Emma Härenstam.

– It is very temporary. We have a high pressure over the country right now that is holding up against the low pressure.
