Destination Gotland announces that two ferry trips from and to Visby are canceled and that Wednesday’s three other departures are postponed due to severe weather.
During Wednesday, train traffic between Västervik and Linköping on the Tjustbanan will be stopped to reduce the risk of travelers being stranded in the bad weather.
“We are closing the sections for safety reasons. We do not want trains to be forced to unscheduled stops. Since it is also sub-zero, stationary trains cool off quickly, while it can be difficult to get replacement traffic,” writes the Swedish Transport Administration in its press release. They must inspect the tracks before traffic resumes.
