“Brake, brake, brake”, was heard on the loudspeaker.
Followed by a loud bang and a broken window.
Three carriages were hit by stones on SJ’s express train from Gothenburg to Stockholm.
In the middle of the train journey on SJ’s express train X2000 from Gothenburg to Stockholm on Friday evening, the passengers got a shock.
The shout “Brake, brake, brake” was heard over the loudspeaker system.
After that, a loud bang was heard.
A person who was on board the train describes the sound as “the train hitting a brick wall”. A window in the quiet compartment was shattered after being hit by a rock.
– There are three wagons that got some kind of stone on them, says Anders Edgren, press spokesperson SJ.
“Giant praise to the doctor”
The person on board felt cut after the incident. One person was slightly injured by shrapnel from the window and was treated by a doctor on board the train.
– A huge compliment to the doctor who was able to stand up and help, says Anders Edgren.
After that, the train stood still in Flen, where it was also evacuated.
– The train will not continue, but will remain there. It has received a vehicle damage. We were lucky that the train was at a platform in Flen, so all travelers could transfer to another train and arrive in Stockholm.
The incident will be investigated by the Swedish Transport Administration.
– It is too early to say anything about the cause. If it is someone who threw stones or if it is macadam that went up. We don’t know the reason and nobody has seen anything, says Anders Edgren.
Last week, the train company Flixtrain announced that it was canceling all its departures for at least a week due to excess macadam, also known as crushed stone, on the rails.
