Windows 12 in 2024? Microsoft would shake up its launch schedule

EPN in Eastern Ukraine People are very worried This will

According to information from Windows Central, the company wants to return to a more traditional release schedule for Windows, with a new major release every three years.

Remember, it was in 2015, Windows 10 was supposed to become “the last of Windows” and was thought of “as a service” by Microsoft, with updates over the water. In particular, this required a rather tight schedule, with two major system updates per year.

Unfortunately, it didn’t quite go as planned. These launches every six months caused many stability problems and led to many bugs. From the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft chose to slow down the pace, with only one major release per year.

But, according to Windows Central, always well informed about Microsoft’s plans, this schedule would once again be completely upset. Microsoft would have decided to return to a more traditional operation, with the launch of a new major version every three years. In other words, we could therefore discover Windows 12 in 2024, since Windows 11 was launched last year.

Module updates for Windows 11

That doesn’t mean, however, that Microsoft won’t improve its system in the meantime. Also according to Windows Central, the software giant would implement with version 22H2, still scheduled for this fall, a new update system called “Moments”. This would provide piecemeal new functions to the OS, without necessarily waiting for a new major version of Windows. An operation by modules which is very similar to what Google does with its Pixel range: this one benefits every three months from novelty without waiting for the new version of Android, via the Pixel Features Drop.

At the same time, Microsoft would also have abandoned the major update of Windows 11, codenamed Sun Valley 3, scheduled for fall 2023. The functions, which were planned in this version, would therefore be distilled in the form of “Moments” all throughout the year.

As a reminder, the next major version of Windows 11 should therefore be launched in the coming months and bring many new features to the OS. In particular, we should see a revised and corrected file explorer, folders for the Start menu, the great return of drag and drop in the taskbar… and dozens of other modifications or adjustments.

Windows Central still recalls that Microsoft’s plans could still evolve. But if they do not change, the next major version of Windows 11 will therefore be the last… before Windows 12.
