Windows 11 makes it easier to share files with WhatsApp

Good news if you use WhatsApp on PC: you can now easily send files in your messages from Explorer thanks to a new sharing option in Windows 11.

As you certainly know, it is possible to use WhatsApp on a computer in addition to a smartphone with the same account, the application even working in parallel and synchronized on the two devices (see our article). the telephone remains very practical in many circumstances, especially when traveling, the computer is obviously much more comfortable, with its large screen for your messages, photos and videos, and its physical keyboard for typing text. However, even if it has progressed a lot in its latest versions, by offering functions first deployed on mobile, the “desktop” application (for computer) is not a model of integration with management systems. exploitation which host it, especially when it comes to attaching files to messages. because, like on a smartphone, you have to click on the small paperclip to the left of the input field to open an exploration window and browse the computer’s storage in order to select the photo, video or document to send.

An operation, certainly not really complicated, but which Microsoft has decided to simplify. Indeed, after years of polite ignorance, the publisher has finally integrated WhatsApp into the sharing options of Windows Explorer. So, now, when you right-click on a file in an Explorer window and choose the Share option, the email icon appears alongside the classic applications present by default (Outlook, Teams , Hib comments…). Simply click on the WhatsApp icon to bring up the list of current conversations and choose the discussion in which to send the selected file. Nothing revolutionary, therefore, but a nice little extra that should please WhatsApp fans on PC. We just wonder why Microsoft didn’t do this sooner!
