The latest Windows Subsystem for Android update released by Microsoft improves game and controller support.
Almost a year after the release of Windows 11, the Windows Subsystem for Android is still not officially available in our latitudes. However, Microsoft has not stopped working on it and continues to deploy updates to the module which it reserves for the moment only for Insiders members, in the United States. The latest version pushed by the Redmond firm brings its share of novelties. On the program, Microsoft offers better support for games as well as improvements in network and window management.
Better game support
In detail, Microsoft explains that it has integrated a new software brick (shims) into the settings of the Windows subsystem for Android in order to offer a better user experience in several applications. This addition should particularly benefit games that support joysticks. In addition, this confirms the possibility of controlling games using a controller. In addition, the Redmond firm indicates that aiming and sliding in games can be done using the directional keys on the keyboard.
Microsoft didn’t just improve the gaming experience in its Windows Subsystem for Android. The American company explains that it has improved content scrolling and optimized network settings. By the way, the default minimum resolution of Android windows in Windows 11 will be 220 dpi.
For the rest, besides graphical improvements and other security fixes, Microsoft has improved the dialog that appears when an unsupported VPN is detected. The American firm has also integrated a new button to save diagnostic data on the fly in the settings of the Windows subsystem for Android.
The Windows Subsystem for Android, available for now in a Preview limited to US Insiders members, should soon be officially rolled out in other countries. In a note from blog published last May, Microsoft indicated its intention to make it available in France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom by the end of this year.
